Easy open/close Travato fresh water tank drain valve

A modified 1 1/2" Valterra sliding gate valve that screws into the fresh water tank drain socket. No tool needed and no plumbers tape - it uses an o-ring (supplied) for the seal. Reach down and pull the handle to drain the tank; push it back in to close. No more crawling, etc. I have been working on this design for some time now getting the parts just right!
PLEASE NOTE: this mod is only for newer Travatos that have the fresh water tank mounted underneath the van, as shown in my photos.
Installation: remove the original drain plug using a wrench. clean the threaded socket to remove any stray material, plumbers grease, etc. Insert the threaded portion into the socket and tighten until the o-ring makes contact. It should spin freely until the o-ring hits. Turn about 1/2 to 3/4 turn more, then turn backward slightly;(maybe 1/8 turn?) to seat the o-ring. (thanks Dad!) It is OK to screw it in further if needed to stop it from leaking. The top of the upper adapter will be quite close to the water tank.
Once you have it positioned so it does not leak, if it is not pointing in the desired direction, loosen the 4 bolts about 1-1/2 to 2 turns. This should allow turning the valve without moving the threaded adapter. Once the valve is pointed they way you want, tighten all 4 screws until they are fully seated.
